Fat suction using a vacuum is in recent years one of the most preferred interventions of aesthetic surgery. It is a very effective method in decreasing regional fat accumulations. Here you will find some key points of this method:

The first 48 hours after the operation is the period of swelling. Reducing your movements during this period will help to decrease the swellings. If you weigh yourself, you will see that there is no difference compared to your weight before the procedure. This is because of all the injected fluids during the operation. Weight changes will appear days after the procedure.

Your corset will be removed on the 5th -7th day after the procedure and you'll be allowed to take a shower. You will notice some swellings, regional lividity, and toughness at your skin in these certain areas. If necessary you can apply body lotions.

In your control examination after the surgery, your surgeon may eventually recommend you a massage or ultrasound.

After the 10th day you can gradually increase sportive activities.

The swelling will decrease in time and will be in general gone after 4-6 weeks. But the process of recuperation will go on. Total recovery can last up to 6 months depending on the location and size of the area.

Diet and sportive activities together with a new lifestyle adjustment will help to reach a better result. Especially the first 6 weeks are called the golden period. During this period sports and diet will help to reshape the healing tissues.

Avoid sauna, solarium and sunbathing for 8 weeks after the operation. These will increase the swellings at the operation regions. 

The recovery process is not the same at each region of the body. Especially the procedures at the underknee regions will recover during months. 

One of the most frequently asked question is regarding different names of fat suction by vacuum. There are three main factors that can affect the result at this method. Those are the skin type and fat deposition of the patient, the experience and attention of the surgeon in analyzing the problem, and the materials and devices used to perform the procedure. Besides names like liposuction, liposculpture, liposhaping, liposhaving are just names given to the same procedure.
